Charest Family Tree
In the Enhanced News Archive blog, I’ve featured family trees that were created to hold an obit, that I found in an old newspaper. Usually when I find one item in a newspaper, I can find some more family items in the same newspaper collection. The Annie Charest family tree is the latest example of this phenomenon.
I found the following obit:
I then create a text file to help me build a tree to hold the screen print of the obit.

I started populating the tree with the above information and also picked up records.
Some of those records had death dates for the people and I was able to find nine other obits. and I created screen prints and text files for each of the nine.
The Gallery collection comes off of the Ancestry dot com tree file. The first obit I found is the one with a think red box around it. Notice that on long obituaries, I crop the image and create a screen print that fits better on the tree. I also created screen prints of records that I felt would be needed to confirm names, dates or locations.
The following family tree shows what the tree can become by picking up one obit and filling in the branches as new records are found, confirmed and brought into the tree.
The tree is for illustration only. The boxes are too small to read but you can see how a huge tree can be created from just one obituary.
I hope this information will help the Charest family with their trees.
Thank You.
Jose from Clarkston, Michigan
Below are the text files for each of the additional nine obits that I was able to fine. Note each has the name of the newspaper and link to the page or item. There are several newspapers in the Maine collection that come from Lewiston [See at bottom of this blog.]
