Finding Indiana people in Canada

I was looking for a person in Tipton, Indiana and did a Google newspaper search for Tipton, Indiana. I got this newspaper hit.

Lafayette, Nicollet County, Minnesota

Lafayette Ledger – May 11, 1907

The person I was looking for was not on this newspaper but these three other Tipton, Indiana residents were:

  1. G. Burkhart
  2. Treloar-Tresidder
  3. Walter W. Mount

They had signed a letter to the Canadian Government which was now being published in this May 11, 1907 Minnesota newspaper.

I may not have found my person but I might have helped someone find their relative who left Tipton, Indiana for the wild west Canadian wilderness.

The same Canadian letter in this newspaper

Bluffton, Indiana

Bluffton Chronicle – May 15, 1907

I hope this post has given you some historical information and perhaps solved a mystery of what happened to your Indiana relatives.

Thank You.

Retired General Motors designer who now works on subjects dealing with genealogy. I create trees using items I find in old Google News Archive newspapers and I contact other tree owners notifying them about the news item concerning their relative and send them a link to the tree I created. I post a screen print of the news item on the tree for others to copy, so that my work will benefit others. Occasionally, I will post about the tree I created or the item that I found, always with a "how to" in-bedded in the post. I want my blog posts to help others with their family trees or with their genealogy experiences.
