It’s Halloween so I should not be surprised about how spooky the following story seems.
I have not been reading other people’s blogs lately but today I read one about immigration documents. That posting lead me to write a piece about records which contain additional information about a person. In my piece I mentioned that there are many records which have additional family information and mentioned that the “Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications” contain very detailed information. I finished the piece and went into Ancestry.com to work on a new family tree and the first record that came up for the person was… you guessed it, “Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications”.
Was it just a coincidence?
May be.
Was it spooky?
Definitely.
So thanks to the Genealogy Gods who guided my hand to find that “SAR” membership application, here is an example of the detailed information available in such an application.
I hope these screen prints of “SAR” pages will give you a good example of the information you can get off of your relatives application.
Thank You.
