Update: inauguration speech

I added a link to President Obam’s speech . .

The president will be giving his inauguration speech and I thought it would be interesting to see what other presidents have had to say.

I did a Google Search and found a web site that has a list of all the presidential inauguration speeches. The site is from Yale Law School – Avalon Law Project The Inaugural Addresses of the Presidents .

They have a full list although some of the links are broken but if you are interested in what Jefferson, Grant , McKinley or Wilson had to say in the second term inauguration speech then you can read it on that web page.

I sent an e-mail to Yale Law School – Avalon Law Project telling them about the broken links and they replied:

Thanks for your email.
We are currently overhauling the entire Avalon project. This overhaul involves technological and feature improvements including enhanced search functionality.
This project has been over a year in the making, and while we are in the process of overhauling the project we are not making corrections and adding content.
However, we do have a list of corrections and updates to include when we roll out the updated site (they will be much easier to correct once these technological updates are made).
I checked and your initial request is in the queue.

Thanks again.
Best regards,
Margaret Chisholm for lawref.

I also found two of the speeches in old newspapers and I give you those links here:

President Grants Speech at his 2nd Inauguration

President Wilson Speech at his 2nd Inauguration

Thank You.

Oh, one more thing. Take time to relax and feed the fish.

I create trees using items I find in old Google News Archive newspapers and I contact other tree owners notifying them about the news item concerning their relative and send them a link to the tree I created. I post a screen print of the news item on the tree for others to copy, so that my work will benefit others. Occasionally, I will post about the tree I created or the item that I found, always with a "how to" in-bedded in the post. I want my blog posts to help others with their family trees or with their genealogy experiences.
