Screen Print – Crucial Element

In my last Blog “James L. Laird”, I told you:
“I will write-up a blog about production of screen prints and that crucial element.”

Here is the write up or rather the chart which will show you the crucial element to consider when you are creating a screen print.

All you have to remember is to make sure that you are creating a JPEG file and not a Bitmap file.

You see a Bitmap file is huge compared to a JPEG file. The difference is about 90%; that is a JPEG is 90% smaller than a Bitmap.

The chart below shows the various screen prints that I used in the last Blog and what the sizes are when the file is a Bitmap and when it is a JPEG. I also found out that the file gets smaller if you crop it and I show those different sizes on the chart. Example: B3 and B3 crop.

On the chart a “B” file is a Bitmap and a “J” file is a JPEG

You will notice that even a small JPEG file gets smaller if it is cropped.

I know what your next two (2) questions will be because I had the same questions.

Can I change the type of file from a Bitmap to a JPEG?

How do I do that?

I found out that in File there is an option called Export and one can export a Bitmap file into a JPEG file.

So if you have already created a screen print which is a Bitmap, just bring it up and Export it and you will see the size of the file shrink in size but the image will not change at all.

I hope this explanation has helped.

Thank You.

Here is the list of files I used showing the size and type of file
